John Kassay

John Kassay was my first woodworking teacher. I started taking classes from him in the Design and Industry Department at San Francisco State University, Spring Semester, 1983. He was a furniture maker, illustrator, historian, photographer, an excellent teacher and a kind and generous man. He encouraged me to attend the North Bennet Street School. The following obituary was written for Woodwork Magazine, by Bob Treanor, who succeeded John at SF State. Bob was John’s best student.
